Training : An Important Aspects for Sales Professional

Employee development is a shared responsibility of management and the individual employee. The responsibility of management is to provide the right resources and environment that supports the growth and development needs of the individual employee. The quality of employees and the improvement of their skills can be achieved through continuous training. Organizations should therefore, proactively invest in the training and development program of the employees. This will help in maintaining the quality of human assets and thus ensure long term success and probability of business. The employees on the other hand should put in their best in learning and applying the knowledge so gained in their day to day working.
Training is an integral part of human resource development and an important aspect of organization building.
There are several effective training methods which are commonly adopted by companies:
1.       Orientation to New Employees:
Orientation training is very important for new employees. This can be imparted through an employee handbook, a lecture, or a one-on-one meeting with a senior. New recruits are generally informed about the company's history, strategic position, rules, regulations and most importantly the core values and culture of the organization.
2.       Lectures:
By bringing speakers to give lectures on subjects like new laws and changes introduced, how to fight stress and other workplace related issues. This method is very useful when the same information has to be impacted to a large number of people at the same time.
3.       Workshops/Seminars:
Employees can attend conferences that focus on topics of relevance to their position in the organization. They can even share the information through presentations with other staff members in the organization.
4.       In House Trainers:
The training in this regard could be for:
·         New process introduced.
·         New software / technologies introduced.
·         Technical knowledge.
·         Management concepts, etc.

5.       Sending people to Machine Suppliers:
Field trips are very important for in-depth knowledge of processes and systems adopted by the machine suppliers for the running of machines and equipment. This training is important so that the organization can possess the ability to run the machines effectively.
6.       Internal Communication:
Day to day handling of situations is always a source of learning opportunities and should be shared with others. Case studies of important situations go a long way in educating others.
7.       Soft Skills Training:
Soft skills training goes a long way because the employees learn about effective communication, etiquettes and human interaction. This helps the employees of the company to deal with outside stakeholders effectively.
8.       Practical working Training:
In this type of training employees are observed during actual working and problem areas and errors are identified. Training programs are then created to resolve those problems properly so as to avoid future chaos. In many organizations seniors keep a track of employee’s mistakes and then bring down the errors to the notice of employees and take corrective measures side by side.
